  1. Read and accepted minutes.
  2. Open and distributed mail.
  3. Met with CEO concerning resolution on the Kimball Pond Road property stop work order. Property owner has paid the fines and will fix the problems.
  4. CEO has received confirmation that the Stream Road resident has received paperwork.
  5. Discussed the paving project on the Tower Road. Discussed culverts on the Jessie Ladd and Bessie Road. A plan has been put in place to replace the culverts.
  6. Winter sand will be put out to bid.
  7. Extended the winter plowing contract for two years with Meader Construction with a 3% increase for each year.
  8. Made a list of surplus items (old computers) to be put out for bid – the details will be listed in the August/September newsletter.

Read and accepted minutes from the previous meeting

  • Reviewed and signed Warrant #14.
  • Opened and distributed mail.
  • John Archard, CEO discussed a Stop Work Order due to violations on a project on the Kimball Pond Road. The property owners have been notified and John is working with them to get the project back on track.
  • John, as Code Enforcement Officer will check on the Stream road property - three or more unregistered automobiles classifies the property as a junk yard which is a violation.
  • Burt Whittier came in to look at tax maps. Discussed the apparent improvement of the Rugged Mountain Road and the Carr Hill Road. It was unclear who made the improvements.
  • Discussed the ongoing bear issue in town. The Game Warden set a live trap at the former dump site after sightings of an injured bear in the area.
  • Signed and returned the Maine Department of Transportation Road Assistance form. Vienna is scheduled to receive $ 26,000 plus from July 2013 – June 2014.
  • Discussed the water testing at the local swimming area/boat launch on Rt. 41. Dan Onion, Health Officer, has done one test – he will follow up with two more.

Selectmen’s Note: The first test showed a high number for EColi. The next two showed very low numbers ( 1 and 5 ) – virtually negative. Going forward, it will be our policy to test the water at the beginning of every summer.

  • Read and accepted minutes from previous meeting
  • Discussed a complaint about a house on the Stream Road: Renters moved out and left trash, unregistered cars and junk. Will contact John Archard, the Code Enforcement Officer to evaluate the situation.
  • Discussed the spring time wash out on Stream Road and what could be done to help solve this problem in the future. It was determined that the culverts are the correct size. Discussed the need to clean out the culverts earlier in the year to help prevent future washouts.
  • Discussed the dumpster on the Klir Beck road - confirmed it is where it is supposed to be. It is located half way down the Shores Road.
  • Stuart Rogers came in to discuss his taxes.
  • Ron Greenwood will be able to make a copy of the Town House Key for the Fire Department.

  • Discussed cell phone tower issue – no application has been submitted to the town at this point.
  • Discussed tax commitment and the breakdown of “other income”.
  • Discussed State Revenue Sharing: Vienna will receive $22,218.00 (instead of $47,035.00, as anticipated) for the fiscal year July 2013-June 2014.
  • Reviewed a proposal from Jim’s Painting Service. Jim will scrape, prime and paint a portion of the Town House. This proposal has been accepted by the Town House Committee and selectmen.

  • Read and accepted minutes from previous meeting
  • Dick Scott from Kyes Insurance delivered the new Town Insurance Polices for July 2013 through June 2014:

There is a premium increase of 3½% over last year; as well as a value increase of 2½% on coverage of town buildings and contents.

  • Discussed the MMA budget work shop that Dodi attended. She will receive budget templates to look over for use in 2014.
  • Discussed the beaver issue at Parker Pond. Dan needed to get a 40 foot log to clean the culvert.
