Selectmen's meeting - December 17, 2024

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant # 24 ($19,810.40).
  4. The select board met with Charles Beader and discussed contracts and grants. The
    select board signed a contract to have SeaBoard Drill start drilling for core samples at the crossing which need the culverts changed to concrete crossings.
  5. Reviewed and signed Vienna Broadband Warrant # 8 ($4,775.45).
  6. The Town will cover 50% and the employee will cover 50% of the 1% needed for Family Medical Leave.

Selectmen's meeting - December 3, 2024

  1. 1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #23 ($107,723.01).
  4. The select board reviewed a couple property cards.
  5. Reviewed and signed Vienna Broadband Warrant # 7 ($1,383.94).
  6. The selectboard talked with Ed about the Central Office as it needs to be insulated,
    sided, interior sheathed, and a door installed before Axiom will be able to start installing their rack for the electronics. The pole at the Central Office will need to be replaced with a taller one. A second order of fiber was delivered on Monday, 12/01/24. The selectboard will set up an open house once the Broadband Central Office is completed
  7. The selectmen signed three abatements.

Select Board meeting - September 24, 2024

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectboard met with Ed Lawless to discuss the progress on the Broadband project. Ed will meet with a representative from Axiom to review the Central Office location and discuss concerns regarding the installation of fiber by both Consolidated Communications and Spectrum (neither company was interested in servicing the Town during the initial stages of the broadband process). Town representatives have contacted the MCA about these concerns.
  4. The selectboard created a new tax card for 1.6 acres purchased from a larger lot. This will be Map 7, Lot 32 for 1.5 acres.

Select Board meeting - August 27, 2024

 

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectboard worked on an abatement.
  4. The selectboard reviewed a proposal from Dirigo Engineering to provide engineering for culvert replacements on Trask Road, Jesse Ladd Road, Kimball Pond Road, and Tower Road.
  5. The selectboard discussed the installation of lines in town by Consolidated Communications and the progress of Vienna Broadband. The Central Office will require a grounding field to protect the electronics from electrical surges.

Select Board meeting - August 20, 2024

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #16 ($13,186.91)
  4. The selectboard discussed the purchase of dump stickers and whether to increase the cost. It was decided to keep the pricing as is.
  5. The selectboard discussed an issue regarding the Varney Road plow turnaround.
  6. The selectboard reviewed a resident's property.
  7. A new newsletter editor has been hired following the previous editor's resignation.

Select Board meeting - August 13, 2024

  1. Reviewed and dispersed mail
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. The selectboard talked with the Langevins about replacing a culvert at the end of their driveway.
  4. The selectboard discussed the Varney Road snowplow turnaround.
  5. The Town received a FEMA reimbursement of $172,345.00 from the May 2023 storm. $50,000.00 was allocated to the road maintenance budget, $60,000.00 to the paving account, and the remainder to the General account to repay funds used for storm repairs.
  6. The Town is seeking a new editor for the Vienna Newsletter, as the current editor has officially resigned, effective immediately.
  7. The selectboard discussed residents' concerns over their property taxes and evaluations.

Select Board meeting - August 6, 2024

  1. Reviewed and dispersed the mail.
  2. The selectmen read and accepted the minutes from the previous meeting.
  3. Reviewed and signed Warrant #15 ($119,415.84).
  4. The selectboard hired a person to trap beavers that are causing issues on Tower Road.
  5. The selectboard discussed the Community Resilience Grants.
  6. The selectboard talked with residents about their concerns regarding the evaluation and taxes on their homes.
  7. The Town received FEMA’s 80% reimbursement from the May 2023 storm expenditure.
  8. The select board discussed an ongoing beaver issue on Tower Road with a resident.
  9. The select board met with Randy Butler of Dirigo Engineering and Whitney Baker of The 30 Mile River Watershed to discuss the ongoing need for the replacement of several culverts.
